    Snapshots with VMWare

Everyone, I have a machine that I want to take a snapshot of a virtual machine using VMWare 1.0.3.  The physical machine is running CentOS and the virtual machine is running Fedora Core 3.0.  The physical machine has 2 gigs of RAM, and 1.4 gig is allocated to the virtual machine.  The problem that I am running into is that when I try to run a snapshot, it takes about 3.5 hours and basically kills all functions in the virtual machine.  The virtual machine only has about 11 gigs worth of data in it, so there is not much there, but the snapshot seems to overwhelm the physical machine which then overwhelms the virtual machine.  Does anyone know of any settings I can change to help this problem?

    Thanks,

    Matt

Try shutting down the Virtual Machine before taking the snapshot.
